Applied Foresight Program
A five-day intensive on reading weak signals, stress-testing strategy, and building a foresight practice you can run at home.
Overview
The Applied Foresight Program is a five-day intensive designed for leaders who need to build strategic foresight capability quickly — not attend another trends briefing.
Participants learn the same signal-scanning and scenario methods TRTO researchers use internally, then apply them directly to a live strategic question from their own organisation over the course of the week.
By Friday, every participant leaves with a foresight practice they can run independently, plus a first working scenario set for their own strategy.
What you'll walk away with
- A repeatable method for scanning weak signals relevant to your sector.
- A first working scenario set built during the program, ready to bring back to your team.
- Practical tools for stress-testing strategy against multiple plausible futures.
- Access to the TRTO foresight practitioner community after the program ends.
Program structure
Day 1: Foundations of foresight
Core concepts, common failure modes, and a shared vocabulary for talking about uncertainty with your team.
Day 2: Signal scanning
Structured methods for identifying and validating weak signals relevant to your sector.
Day 3: Scenario construction
Building a first set of plausible, distinct scenarios from your signals — not just a best case and worst case.
Day 4: Strategy stress-testing
Running your current strategy against each scenario to find where it holds and where it breaks.
Day 5: Practice design
Turning the week's work into a lightweight foresight practice your team can run on an ongoing basis.
Five days completely changed how our team approaches planning. We finally have a shared way to talk about what might happen, not just what we hope will.
